To all the members of the Ethnic Press and media of Canada

Dear friends and colleagues, brothers and sisters in the ethnic Press and media:

It is with real pleasure and satisfaction that I am in a position to inform you, today, that the department of Canadian Heritage has accepted our application and approved the funding for the second phase of our project for the professional development of our members.

Balmoral Marketing, our official marketer is intensively working in the preparation of the project, which I believe, is going to be organized for the last week of July or the first of August, 2009, in Toronto. It shall be conducted in a major educational institute of Toronto. You shall be informed regarding this as soon as the details are worked out.

Taking this opportunity, I want to inform you that we are planning to have a three day convention combined with professional training for the members, starting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the last week of July, or the first week of August 2009, subject of the availability of the facilities and academia of the university.   The organization is subsidizing   all the expenses of the members who will attend as well as their traveling expenses to Toronto, if they live and work in other cities outside Toronto. The Organization along with the educational Institute is shall issue certificates of attendance for the members attending during a special graduation ceremony, Sunday afternoon.

I am expecting the Prime Minister or the Premier of Ontario to help us for the presentation of the certificates. Part of the program will be covered with presentations from the department of the Canadian Heritage about the new rules and regulations of the Department towards the Assistance from the Canadian Magazines policies, which are to be implemented by April 01, 2010, and are going to benefit all our members.

I want to inform you that only members in good standing with the organization will be invited, since only they r have the right to attend this event. In accordance with

the  provisions of the bye laws for members of Not for profit organizations, I want to ask all the members which have not paid the $ 25.00 dollars annual membership fee, to do so immediately, otherwise they will be left out of our list of invitees.

Finally, I want to extend my final invitation to all the publishers and editors of newspapers or magazines in a language other than English of French to submit their applications immediately, along with three different copies of their issues and a cheque of $ 25.00 dollars for the annual membership fee. Those desirous of you for a “MEDIA PASS”, to be  issued by the organization,  have to enclose two pictures small size (passport), with their name appearing at the back of both pictures.

Please visit our web site at www.nepmcc.ca or www.ethnicpresscouncil.com and download an application, complete it and mail it back to me.

The administration and the members of the board of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada, gratefully acknowledge the generous financial assistance this project has received from the Department of “Canadian Heritage”, Support for Industry Development, Canada Magazine Funds.
